Guest Article: Ginger Lemon Shots

The daily immune booster

How can you tell that you’re getting older? For everyone there are certainly other signs, but in the last few weeks, one thing in particular happening at our house remained in my memory: I bought new shot glasses, without the intention of using them for alcoholic drinks. So why did I get them?

If you live with someone else, you may be lucky enough to have, every now and then, new things appearing in the fridge, without your own doing. If you’re even luckier, the whole thing tastes good, is healthy and is made regularly. That’s how I felt about my husband’s ginger lemon shots – currently a daily ritual for both of us – which he’d like to share with you on the blog today. So get your shot glasses out of the cupboard (or buy some) – Here’s to health! 😉

Ginger-Lemon Shots

A strong immune system is the key to a healthy life and, for me, the basis to maximum performance during an intense work week. So I try to support my immune system as much as possible, and among other things one way to achieve this became ginger shots. I drink one in the morning and one in the evening. It boosts your immune system and also wakes up my body in the morning. Here is my recipe.

Portions 1 Pitcher (approx. 1 Liter)

You need

  • 200 g Ginger
  • 750 ml Apple Juice unsweetened
  • 200 ml Orange Juice unsweetened
  • 8-10 Lemons
  • Cinnamon optional

Here’s how to do it

  • Peel ginger, cut into pieces and add into a blender with apple juice and orange juice.
  • Squeeze the lemons and add the juice as well, then blend everything well until no pieces are visible anymore.
  • Add a little bit of cinnamon as you like.
  • Lastly the blended juice needs to be filtered through a sieve in order to get rid of the ginger fibers.
